Acrobat, Juggler
By Dominique Jando
Trained in all traditional circus disciplines, Maria made her debut in the ring at age nine on the free ladderUnsupported vertical ladder on which acrobats perform balancing and/or juggling tricks., and in a hand-to-handAn acrobatic act in which one or more acrobats do hand-balancing in the hands of an under-stander. balancing act that she performed with one of her cousins. When her parents retired from performing, she and her brother, Josef, took over their free ladderUnsupported vertical ladder on which acrobats perform balancing and/or juggling tricks. act and created a circular perch act, which they performed with success all over the world. With her family and her brother, Maria has been featured in such venues as Circus King in England, Little World in Japan, Circus Busch-Roland in Germany, Wintercircus Martin Hanson in Holland, Circus Harlekin in Switzerland, Circus Arnardo in Norway, and even a tour of Michael Edgley's Great Moscow Circus in Australia.
Yet Maria had a sideline hobby: diabolo juggling. She began working at it seriously when she was eighteen, and soon she was good enough to make an act of what was originally just a pastime. Maria debuted her diabolo juggling act at Circus Charles Knie in Germany in 2006. In 2011, she was contracted by Cirque du Soleil to perform in their production of Viva Elvis at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. She eventually settled in Las Vegas, and has since performed her juggling act in many shows and special events in the United States.
