==Equestrienne, Ropedancer==

Little is known of the Spanish equestrienne Marietta Orsanigo: Born in Spain circa 1830, she was active in the 1840s in Europe, where she was a member of the circus troupe of [[Alessandro Guerra]], with which she performed in the German States, and during Guerra's 1845 season in St. Petersburg, Russia (see: [[Russia's First National Circus]]). She was an accomplished ballerina on horseback and ''haute-école'' rider. She is also said to have been a ropedancer&mdash;for which she had been trained by the legendary ropedancer, [[Madame Saqui]] (1786-1866).
