Television series
The ‘’Circus Town’’ series on YouTube and Facebook is a collaboration between Spiegelworld, an extremely successful trailblazer of contemporary circus, and Australian multi-channel network Radar MCN. From its humble beginnings in a spiegeltent on the old pier 17 near New York City’s Fulton fish market in in 2006, to its phenomenal success in Las Vegas, to the purchase of Nipton, a Californian desert town, with the dream of creating a circus utopia, Spiegelworld has always pushed the edges of the “new circus” frontier.
Its founder, Ross Mollison, said (July 2023): “We have three successful long-running circus shows and an integrated restaurant business in Las Vegas, and a new show and restaurant just opened on the Atlantic City boardwalk. But the community of people who work in circus and who love circus is global. We have so many surprising stories to share and the ‘’Circus Town’’ series is our way of bridging that gap. The phenomenal international media interest in our recent purchase of the town of Nipton, and what we plan to do there, demonstrates just how much public curiosity there is in our kind of contemporary circus […] While Nipton is our physical Circus Town, this series encompasses all aspects of Spiegelworld and the broader global circus community we interact with. It’s about all the people who make up a modern circus community—our metaphorical Circus Town.”
