Acrobat, Thrill Act

David Martins hails from Brazil, where he was trained in capoeria, an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, music, and dance. A friend suggested him to go to a talent audition for an "American circus" held in his native country. This radically changed David’s life: The circus was Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, and David was hired to perform capoeria and acrobatics in the 1999 edition of The Geatest Show On Earth.

While there, David trained in tumbling and on the Russian Barre, and he eventually spend four years touring with Ringling Bros. He then found an engagement at Six Flags amusement parks. In 2007, Bello Nock offered him to return to Ringling Bros. as his rigging assistant and partner, and for the next two years, Bello trained David on his Wheel of Wonder.

In 2009, David Martins made his debut with his spectacular new act in the Big Apple Circus production of Bello Is Back!
