Marietta Orsanigo: Born in Spain circa 1830, she was active in the 1840s in Europe, where she was a member of the circus troupe of Alessandro Guerra, with which she performed in Germany, and during Guerra's 1845 season in St. Petersburg, Russia (see: Russia's First National Circus). She was an accomplished ballerina on horseback and haute école rider. She is also said to have been a ropedancer, and a pupil of the legendary ropedancer, Madame Saqui (1786-1866).
