Philippe Gruss, leopard act, at Cirque Jean Richard, installed in the Palais des Sports in Paris (1965). The act usually ended with Philippe Gruss asking his last leopard, Prince, to leave the cage, and Prince ignoring his trainer's request—until Philippe Gruss went to him, took him in his arms, and carried him to the cage's door. On the day of this filming, Prince decided to leave his stool by himself, and thus Philippe Gruss, to his chagrin, was deprived of his charming and spectacular finale in front of the cameras! — Document INA-France (www.ina.fr)
