The "Idol"international circus festival was created by Askold & Edgard Zapashny in 2013. It is presented each year in September at the Bolshoi Circus in Moscow. Two selection shows, with 12 to 15 international circus acts each, are presented twice to an international jury of circus professionals, and a jury of journalists and media personalities. During the final gala presentation of the winners, the Professional Jury awards Gold, Silver, and Bronze "Idol" statuettes, and the Press and Media Jury awards one Gold Ring, one Silver Ring, and one Bronze Ring. Other prizes and awards are presented by the audience, circuses, medias, and other organizations.
